56 Eden Street - The childhood home of Janet Frame from 1931 to 1943
'I wanted an imagination that would inhabit a world of fact, descend like a shining light upon the ordinary life of Eden Street..'
The 2014 - 15 season is the 10th anniversary of the re-framing of 56 Eden Street and being open to the public.
As part of the celebration of this milestone a number of activites are planned.
On 1 May the Janet Frame Eden Street Trust hosts an evening at Burnside Homestead. This gala occasion will feature Vincent O'Sullivan , Owen Marshall and Sue Wooten who will will toast, recite and entertain the guests with their own brand of New Zealand literary talent. The same weekend a writing workshop with Sue Wootton will take place on the Saturday.
The workshop will be in the mould of previous workshops and challenge, teach and nuture the writers that attend.
As with all ladies of a 'certain' age the house needs constant care. It is our intention in this 10th Anniversary year to launch a Capital Fund for the on-going maintenance of the house. Click here to see how you can contribute.
